BALI PASS TREK

8 Days

FROM DEHRADUN

Overview

The Bali Pass trek is a challenging and exhilarating high-altitude trek located in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, India. It’s renowned for connecting two significant valleys: the Har Ki Dun valley with the sacred Yamunotri valley. This makes it a popular choice for experienced trekkers seeking a diverse and adventurous route.

The trek typically spans 7 to 9 days, covering a distance of approximately 56 to 65 kilometers. It begins from Sankri village, which serves as a base camp for several treks in the region, and concludes near Janki Chatti, close to the Yamunotri temple. The highest point of the trek is Bali Pass itself, perched at a formidable altitude of around 4,950 meters (16,200 feet).

The route offers a remarkable variety of landscapes. Trekkers navigate through dense forests of deodar, pine, and birch, traverse lush alpine meadows (locally known as “bugyals” like Devsu Bugyal), and encounter rocky moraines and snowy stretches, especially as they ascend towards the pass. River crossings, particularly of the Supin and Ruinsara rivers, are also part of the journey. One of the more technical sections is the steep Narma Kandi Ridge and the final approach to Bali Col camp.
