FROM DEHRADUN
Overview
The Ali Bedni Bugyal trek is a moderate-grade trekking experience in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, India, typically lasting around 6 days and covering about 31 km. It’s known for its vast high-altitude alpine meadows, with Ali Bugyal and Bedni Bugyal being two of the largest in Asia. The trek offers stunning panoramic views of Himalayan peaks like Trishul and Nanda Ghunti.
Starting from the base camp at Lohajung, the trail takes trekkers through dense forests of oak and rhododendron, picturesque valleys, and charming villages. The trek includes gradual ascents and descents, with some sections being steep and rocky. A highlight of the trek is Bedni Kund, a pristine lake nestled within Bedni Bugyal, which holds religious significance.
The trek offers diverse landscapes throughout the year. Spring (March-June) brings vibrant wildflowers and lush green meadows, while autumn (September-November) provides clear views and a change in the meadow colors. Winter (December-February) transforms the landscape into a snow-covered wonderland, offering a different, more challenging experience. Monsoon season (July-August) makes the meadows exceptionally green with abundant wild flora, though the trails can be slippery.
